Recap | Salukis Drop Series After Falling to Central Arkansas 9-8 Saturday

The Salukis (4-2) offense was limited to just nine hits in the game with Jordan Bach recording three to lead the team.
It wasn't until the third inning that either team would crack the scoreboard. Jake Allgeyer brought home the first run of the game with a double to right field, scoring Bach and putting the Salukis on top. SIU would add to the lead two batters later when Bach came home to score on a fielding error in the outfield.
Central Arkansas erased the lead in the bottom of the inning with a two-RBI single through the infield.
Southern would put up four runs in the fifth highlighted by Anthony Kodama's double down the line in left – one of Kodama's two hits on the day.
Central Arkansas (3-4) once again answered the Saluki scoring with four runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. UCA added three more runs in the seventh inning to go ahead 9-6.
Southpaw Al Holguin made his second start of the year for SIU going four innings and allowing two runs while striking out four batters.
SIU reliever Scott Harper (1-1) took the loss for Southern after allowing three runs on three hits in the seventh.
Charlie Christensen pitched four innings in relief for UCA to earn the win. Zeb Allen went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead UCA while Drew Sturgeon drove in a team-high three runs.

The Salukis will look to salvage the series finale on Sunday with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
