CHICAGO, Ill. - The Southern Illinois track and field team will compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships beginning Sunday, February 25, in Chicago, Ill. The meet lasts over two days and is hosted by Illinois-Chicago and Valparaiso.
The Salukis were picked to finish fifth in the Pre-Championship poll, receiving 60 and 95 points for the men and women, respectively.
The men finished fourth and the women finished second at last year's championships.
Iaunia Pointer and Xavier Preston are the two Salukis who return after earning gold medals a year ago, both winning their respective 200-meter championships.
The Salukis will travel 51 athletes to compete Sunday and Monday.
