TAMPA, Fla. - Southern Illinois track and field completed day one of the USF Bulls Alumni Invitational Friday in Tampa.
Several freshman Salukis competed in their first outdoor meet of their careers. Jaden Smith, Katee Swope, Halaya Woodson and Tiara Murray competed in the hammer throw. Nikyan Hodge ran his first 400-meter hurdles event, and Zakiyah Wilson ran in the 200-meter dash for the first time.
In field events, Darrione Williams jumped a season-best 7.18 meters in the long jump.
On the track, Vashti Grey posted a personal best in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.72, edging out her previous mark of 24.74.
