NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Southern Illinois track and field wrapped action at the Music City Invitational and the Penn Relays Friday, April 26, in Nashville, Tenn., and Philadelphia, Pa.
The men's and women's 4x400 teams will continue their quests for the SIU history books on Saturday after both qualified for the finals at the Penn Relays.
The women's team of Vashti Grey, Leah Thames, Selisa Palmer and Teanna Bell ran 3:48.38, good for fourth in the qualifying round and only 2.03 seconds behind first-place finisher Navy.
Shane Ashton, Xavier Preston, Marius Coleman and Bryson Wilson also finished fourth with a time of 3:14.17, only 1.22 seconds behind leader St. Augustine's on the men's side.
Josh Allison continued the best stretch of his freshman campaign, running a personal record 3:51.98 in the men's 1500-meter.
