News | Multiple Salukis to compete in NCAA Track and Field Regionals

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Rachel Anderson, Shane Ashton, Darius Fuller, Nikyan Hodge and the men's 4x400 relay team qualified for Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
Anderson has starred in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase all season long, and it culminated in a gold medal at the MVC Championships. She qualified for the 3000-meter steeplechase after running 10.00.70 at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 11, a time that ranks 17th nationally.
Shane Ashton put together his season-best time of 50.37 at the MVC Championships in the men's 400-meter hurdles, easily securing a gold medal. The time ranks 28th in the nation.
Darius Fuller peaked his season when it mattered most. Both of his longest triple jumps came at Indiana State, including his qualifying jump of 15.30 meters at the MVC Championships which won him a gold medal. The mark won the event by .01 meters and ranks 88th nationally.
Nikyan Hodge will join Ashton in the 400-meter hurdles after setting his season-best time of 51.95, a time that slotted him right behind Ashton for the silver medal in Terre Haute.
The men's 4x400 relays have been a strength during the outdoor season, and the time of 3:08.25 at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational is good for 98th nationally. The Salukis will send Shane Ashton, Jeremiah Hamilton, Xavier Preston and Bryson Wilson to compete, with Marius Coleman and Nikyan Hodge traveling as alternates for the event.
The event will take place at John McDonnell Field at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, spanning from Wednesday, May 22 until Saturday, May 25. Visit the Meet Info for more.
