TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Southern Illinois Track and Field will compete at the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Championships beginning Friday, May 10, in Terre Haute, Ind. The event is hosted by Indiana State University and takes place over three days, wrapping up Sunday, May 12.
The men's team was picked to finish fourth, and the women's team was picked seventh. The teams finished fourth and fifth last season, respectively.
Last year's outdoor Freshman of the Meet Jadon Robertson is one of the many returning Salukis who medaled in 2023.
The relay squads have been key during the outdoor season. Last year's men's 4x100 team placed third, with Xavier Preston, Christian Donatelli and Jeremiah Hamilton returning. The women's team also finished third; Shavell Riley, Vashti Grey and Miracle Berry will aim for the podium once again.
Distance runner Claire Ayers will look to improve on her third-place finish in the women's 1500-meter run during last year's championships.
Rachel Anderson aims to win the women's 3000-meter steeplechase after finishing in second last season. She currently holds the fastest time in The Valley at 10:00.70.
The Salukis will travel 48 athletes to compete Friday through Sunday.
