CARBONDALE, Ill – The Missouri Valley Conference has released their list of Women's Basketball Players to Watch, and two Salukis, Indya Green and Alayna Kraus, made the cut.
Green, a graduate student, joins the Salukis this season after a season at Georgia Southern. There, the Springfield, Missouri, native appeared in all 34 games for the Eagles and averaged 12 points-per-games and 8.8 rebounds-per-game, which ranked second in the Sun Belt Conference. She also was third in the conference in field goal percentage at 45.2%.
"Indya is the grit this team needed," says head coach Kelly Bond-White. "She set a tone early during boot camp by attacking her conditioning. She's constantly crediting her teammates for creating a positive culture, which has helped her thrive early. She has set the example but is not afraid to literally push her teammates toward our standard of excellence."
This will not be Green's first season in the MVC, as she played for Missouri State for two seasons. As a junior in 2023-24, she earned MVC All-Tournament honors, and, in 2022-23, she was named the MVC Newcomer of the Week on December 12, 2022. Green spent her freshman year at Moberly Area Community College, averaging 18.9 points-per-game and 11.4 rebounds-per-game and earning WBCA and NJCAA All-American honors as well as being named First-Team All-Region and All-Conference.
As for Kraus, she transfers to SIU after a freshman campaign at Oral Roberts. While there, Kraus appeared in 15 games and averaged 3.3 points-per-game while shooting 42.4% from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc. Kraus hails from Okawville, Illinois.
"Alayna is one of the more efficient guards I have had the opportunity to coach," says Coach Bond-White. "I love the pace at which she plays. She's unselfish and constantly looking for ways to improve."
Green, Kraus, and the Salukis kick off the 2025-26 season on November 4 with an 11 a.m. home game against Lewis.
