Women’s Basketball Picked 10th in MVC Preseason Poll

Carbondale, Ill. – The Missouri Valley Conference released its women's basketball preseason poll Wednesday, and the Salukis were picked to finish 10th with 116 total vote points.
Last season, SIU finished in last place with their 2-18 MVC record and 4-26 mark in overall play. Since last season, the playing field has dropped from 12 teams to 11 after Missouri State's departure for Conference USA.
Belmont sits atop this year's poll with 446 points and 25 first-place votes. Following the Bruins are last year's champions Murray State (436 points, 13 first-place votes), Illinois State (387 points, two first-place votes), and Drake (371 points, four first-place votes).
Southern Illinois women's basketball kicks off the regular season on November 4 when Lewis visits Carbondale at 11 a.m.
