Salukis Defeat Judson, 85-29, for Biggest Win Since 2022
12/20/2025 | 8:57:00 | Women's Basketball
CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois women's basketball team (3-7, 0-1) picked up a dominant 85-29 win over Judson (4-7, 2-3) on Saturday, defeating the Eagles 85-29. The 55-point win is SIU's largest margin of victory since the team defeated Chicago State 115-57 on December 1, 2022.
"I told our guys we have to play lighter," says head coach Kelly Bond-White. "Lighter doesn't mean less intense. But when your shots aren't falling, sometimes there's a tension about it and you get a little tight. I told them I want them to play for each other first because if we took the owness off of self, that lightness could come if we're looking for other people and letting the game come back to us."

How it Happened
First Quarter

Green grabbed another basket less than a minute later, and Kraus added a three to make it 7-0 with 7:53 left in the first. Kayla Cooper joined the scoring party soon enough, and by the time Judson score their first point at the 1:55 mark, SIU had built a 17 point lead.
Following the Eagle bucket, Thompson scored a last-minute layup to set the score at 19-1 heading into the first break.
Second Quarter
SIU picked up right where they left off in the second quarter, scoring six points in the first two minutes. Judson added another point at 7:43 to make it 25-2, but a 10-point run from the Salukis set the score at 35-2 with 3:45 left in half.
An Eagle jumper with under three-and-a-half minutes to play in the second quarter registered their first field goal of the day. A four-point spree from SIU grew their lead to 34, but Judson managed to go on a 4-1 run to end the half with the scoreboard reading 39-8 in favor of SIU.
Third Quarter
Thompson came out and scored four points in the opening 80 seconds of the second half to extend SIU's lead, and another combined seven points from Green, Thompson, Kraus, and Kynnedi Davis made it 50-8. The Eagles hit their first three of the game at 6:30 to cut the deficit to 39 before a four-point run from SIU extended their lead to 43.
Judson hit a free-throw at 4:44 right before Hiba Malkawi knocked down a three and Karris Allen hit a layup. The Eagles won the final 1:27 of the quarter 4-3 to cut the Saluki lead down to 62-16 with 10 minutes to play.
Fourth Quarter
The Eagles could only muster up a handful of free throws through the first 9:14, falling into a 81-25 hole. Judson managed to go 3-3 in the final two minutes, including a three-pointer, but that did little to make the score any prettier. After 40 minutes, SIU walked away with a 85-29 win.
