News | Men picked fifth, Women eighth in the MVC Outdoor Pre-Season poll

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois Track and Field men's team was picked to finish tied fifth and the women eighth in the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Pre-Championship Poll.
The men's team received 51 points, placing them in a tie for fifth in The Valley, tied with Drake. They were behind Bradley with 62 points, Illinois State with 80 points, Indiana State with 93 points, and Northern Iowa with 94 points. Indiana State received four first-place votes, and Northern Iowa received six first-place votes.
The women's team received 64 points, placing them eighth in The Valley. Indiana State was picked as the favorite, receiving 142 points. Illinois State received two first-place votes and was picked to finish in second place.
The 2025 outdoor season is currently underway. The Salukis competed at the Ole Miss Classic on Friday, March 21, and will be competing in the WashU Distance Carnival on Thursday, March 27
The MVC Outdoor Championship will be held on Friday, May 16, at the Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex in Carbondale, Illinois.
