CARBONDALE, Ill. – The 2025 Saluki Invitational kicked off Saturday afternoon, and Southern Illinois softball (6-14, 0-0) welcomed Wisconsin (15-7, 0-0) and Northern Illinois (5-10, 0-0) to Charlotte West Stadium for a pair of games. In game one, Southern fell to Wisconsin, 2-1, in a defensive showdown. SIU then picked up an 8-0 win over Northern Illinois in five innings.
"Everybody is gonna love the NIU win, I think that is how hot our offense has been lately," said head coach Jen Sewell. "I thought we hit well and then pitched well. So then again, we need to put pitching, hitting, and defense all together again."
