
Preview | Track and Field enters highly competitive field at Gibson Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois Track and Field will travel to its fourth outdoor meet at the Gibson Invitational on Thursday, April 17, at 10 a.m. This meet is the first Valley-hosted tournament the Salukis will compete in of the season.
Southern Illinois will see teams from all over the Midwest including Valley host Indiana State, as well as other valley programs such as Evansville, Murray State, Northern Iowa, UIC, as well Butler, Dayton, Depaul, Eastern Illinois, SIUE, Marquette, Xaiver, Central Michigan, and more will compete in Terra Haute.
The Gibson Invitational is a three-day event. Day One will kick off with the women's pentathlon at 10 a.m., and the men's decathlon at 10:30 a.m.
Day Two will start with the conclusion of the multi-events starting at 9:30 a.m., field events starting at noon, and the running events closing day two starting at 6 p.m.
Day Three will begin with field events starting at 11:30 a.m., and the track events beginning at noon. The conclusion of the Gibson Invitational is estimated at 5:30 p.m. with the 4x400M relay races putting the event to a close.
The Salukis are coming off a short week, last competing in the Cougar Classic. Christian Coleman, Darrione Williams, Darius Fuller, Andre Jackson II, and the men's 4x100m Relay consisting of Caleb Massiah, Xavier Preston, Andre Jackson II, and Christian Donatelli took home big wins in the event. Multiple Salukis took home second and third-place finishes across multiple events. The team will look to carry that momentum into Indiana State.
