CARBONDALE, Ill. – Following a weekend off from competition, Southern Illinois women's basketball (6-13, 3-7) prepares for a trip to Chicago to face the Flames of UIC (10-11, 5-5) on Thursday night.

Last Time Out
Women's basketball last saw action on January 29 in a 79-75 loss against Murray State. Alayna Kraus led the way in scoring, leading all payers while tying her career-high in points with 23. Indya Green added another double-double to her season total with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Kayla Cooper and Jeniah Thompson hit double-digit points each with 12 and 11. Fouls were an issue for the Salukis, as they gave the Racers 30 attempts, 26 of which were converted on. Compare that to SIU's 7-11 day at the charity stripe.

The Matchup
Southern leads the all-time matchup with the Flames, 14-7. Their previous contest, which took place on January 18 at SIU, ended as a 63-58 win for the Salukis. UIC won the prior game 64-62 in 2025 at SIU. The Salukis' last win in Chicago came in 2024 when they were victorious 69-65.

UIC enters this match with a 10-11 record while they are 5-5 in Valley play. The Flames are coming off a 76-57 win over Valparaiso on Saturday. They have alternated wins and losses for the past eight games. They have only had consecutive losses once this year (December 20-31) and consecutive wins once as well (December 7-17).
