Softball Game Against Valparaiso Cancelled Due to Weather

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University softball team's (13-9 overall and 2-0 MVC) game against Valparaiso that was scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled due to weather.
SIU was slated to host the Beacons at 1 p.m. after sweeping the Friday doubleheader prior to the cancellation.Â
The Salukis out-scored Valpo, 16-0, across the two games. Southern Illinois' pitching trio of Hailey Lucas, Brooklynn Danielson, and Emily Delgado held the Beacons to a combined three hits and zero runs on Friday.Â
Offensively, seven different players recorded multiple hits with three players (Emily Williams, Jordan Stewart, and Sage Grann) all registering three hits each. Williams also went deep in game one, her third home run of the season.
After the 2-0 start to conference play, SIU will remain at home next weekend to host Bradley at Charlotte West Stadium. The series is scheduled to start on Friday at 2 p.m. with a doubleheader.
