Salukis set for The Velvet in Murray

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois women's golf returns to action Sept. 14-15 at The Velvet at the Country Club of Paducah in Murray, Kentucky.
The Salukis will send five golfers in the team lineup: Mackenzie Thomas, Zeme Moore, Maria Eugenia Peres, Poppy Norcott and Callie Smith. Taylor Pacheco will also compete as an individual.
Southern Illinois enters the tournament after an encouraging start to the fall season at the Bear Brawl, where the Salukis finished fifth and closed the event with their best round of the tournament. Mackenzie Thomas led SIU with a tie for 11th, while Zeme Moore also turned in a strong finish.
The Velvet gives the Salukis another opportunity to build momentum early in the fall as the group heads to Murray for a two-day competition.
