Gaizka Crowley was named Director of Recruiting and Player Personnel for the Southern Illinois football program in 2018 and added NFL Liaison duties in 2020. He manages the yearly calendar, coordinates team travel, organizes football-related events, manages pre-season camp logistics and handles budgeting and communications, as well.Â
Crowley is responsible for the implementation of SIU’s recruiting plan, organizing and coordinating the prospect evaluation process and recruiting boards and aiding the head coach Nick Hill in roster management.  He also oversees the recruiting database, manages the logistical planning of on-campus official, unofficial and game day recruiting visits by prospective student-athletes, coordinates initial eligibility of prospective student-athletes and organizing NCAA compliance records pertaining to recruiting activities and campus visits.Â
He began his career as an offensive line coach at Lincoln High School (Fla.) helping the team reach the 2008 FHSAA Class 4A state finals. He also held coaching positions at Palatka High School and Florida State University Schools.
Crowley spent the previous five years as the Midwest Regional Director of Recruiting and Scouting for XOS Digital based in Chicago. There, he held a variety of responsibilities which included editing high school film, rating players and traveling nationwide to demonstrate recruiting software programs. Furthermore, Crowley aided in the selection and evaluation of players for the U.S Army All-American Bowl and Under Armour All-America game.Â
A native of Tallahassee, Crowley Florida and graduated from Florida State University in 2010, earning a bachelor’s degree in social science education. Crowley and his wife, Laura, have one daughter, Eloise.
