Firth enters his first year as graduate sssistant for Saluki Swimming & Diving after serving as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2012-13 season for the Salukis. He is attending graduate school for kinesiology.
In 2012 Firth was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin male [quote]Swimmer of the Week[quote] on Oct. 25 for his performances in IWU Halloween Invitational...All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke.
He was chosen as the [quote]Most Outstanding Participant[quote] in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin meet as he won the 100 backstroke title with a time of 51.23 seconds and took second in the 200 backstroke with his time of 1:50.82 in 2011. He also finished 19th in the 200 back and 21st in the 100 back at the NCAA Division II national meet.
As a sophomore, Firth was named as an All-conference selection . He placed first in the 100 backstroke at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships where he also placed second in the 200 backstroke and swam a leg in the 400 medley relay that placed second, the 800 freestyle relay that placed second, the 200 freestyle relay that placed third, and the 200 medley relay that placed third. He also set a school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.33, the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.71, his 200 medley relay with a time of 1:34.88, his 400 medley relay with a time of 3:27.77, his 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:26.66, and his 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:00.38.
Firth was born May 28, 1990 and is the son of Ronnie and Paula Firth.
