Amanda Hanneman returns to Carbondale for her second stint as an assistant coach for the Salukis.
Hanneman served on Cindy Stein’s inaugural coaching staff at SIU from 2013-15 and earned her master’s degree in sports studies as a graduate assistant video coordinator. She helped Southern to its largest single-season turnaround in program history during the 2014-15 season.
She most recently was the head women’s basketball coach at St. Teresa’s Academy for two seasons. The Stars had immediate success with Hanneman at the helm, as they won 21 games in her first season and posted a .620 combined winning percentage in her two seasons as head coach.
Prior to her initial stint in Carbondale, Hanneman spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Sonoma State (Cal.). Hanneman began her collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant coach at Avila University in 2010. In her one season at Avila, she helped the program to a 20-13 record and the Eagles made their first-ever appearance in the NAIA Division II National Tournament.
Hanneman played for Stein at Missouri, where she was a two-year starter and was elected team captain prior to her senior season. She scored 554 career points in 93 games and finished her career ranked seventh in school history with 113 career three-pointers.
A Kansas City, Mo. native, Hanneman received her B.A. in agriculture, food and natural resources from Missouri in 2010.
