Marissa Webb completed her second season as an assistant coach on the SIU women's basketball coaching staff in 2024-25.
“Coach Webb has been a blessing to this program,” Bond-White said. “The best are always highly sought after. So I knew she had quite a few choices. But, there was something about our conversations I kept coming back to. She's a winner that carries a spirit of joy. Our young people need that. I also knew I wanted someone from this Southern Illinois region that had competed for championships.”
Webb came to SIU after spending one season at University of Arkansas - Monticello.
While at UAM, Webb was a part of increasing the season win total by 10 games from the previous season. She worked with all aspects of the program and guided the team’s strength and conditioning regimen.
Before UAM, Webb spent two seasons at Three Rivers College in Missouri. While at TRC, Webb coached a pair of record-breaking Lady Raiders teams. Three Rivers posted a combined 52-2 overall record while Webb was on staff.
Prior to TRC, Webb coached at Doane University in Crete, Neb. While assisting at Doane, Webb also served as head coach of the JV team. Webb was the operations point of contact for both programs, and was responsible for scheduling, recruiting, travel and academics.
Before Doane, Webb was an assistant coach at Southeastern Illinois College. During her final season at SIC, the team won 23 games and and featured a Third Team All-American, the Region 24 Player of the Year, Freshman POY, and two All-Region players.
Webb began her collegiate coaching at Western Illinois, serving as the team’s graduate assistant. While at WIU, the Leathernecks finished with a 49-15 combined two-season record. The team qualified for two postseason appearances — the 2017 NCAA Tournament and the 2018 WNIT. At Western, Webb worked with the day-to-day operations of the program.
Webb also spent the 2018 and 2019 summers with the Stanford University women’s basketball Program under Coach Tara VanDerveer. With Stanford, Webb was an Elite Camp Leader for both summers for multiple camps. Webb also spent the 2017 summer interning with the Missouri State men’s basketball program. She worked team camps and observed practices.
“It means the world to me to be joining this program,” Webb said. “There’s so much heart and love in this program, and I know that stems from the staff. Emotionally, it’s surreal. I wake up knowing how big of an opportunity this is to be joining some veteran coaches.”
Webb received her master’s degree in Kinesiology in 2018 from Western Illinois, her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2016 from William Woods University, and her associate's degree in Pre-Sports Medicine in 2014 from Three Rivers College.
