Andy Riesenberg begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Southern Illinois women’s volleyball program in 2018.
Riesenberg was most recently at Xavier University, where he served as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2017 season. Prior to his stint with the Musketeers, Riesenberg spent a season as a volunteer assistant at Ohio University. During his only season on staff, the Bobcats won the 2015 MAC Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Before his tenure at Ohio, Riesenberg spent three seasons as the head coach of the women’s volleyball program at DII Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio.
During his three seasons as head coach of the Storm, Riesenberg coached a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Honorable Mention award winners and Lake Erie earned GLIAC All-Academic Team honors in each of his three seasons as head coach.
Riesenberg arrived at Lake Erie by way of Auburn University, where he spent the 2011 season as a volunteer assistant coach. From 2009-11, Riesenberg was the first assistant for Wright State University in the Horizon League. Three players were awarded All-Horizon League honors and Riesenberg helped recruit and develop five student-athletes who went on to rank in the top-10 of Wright State’s all-time career stats during his tenure.
Riesenberg began his collegiate coaching career at DII Southern Indiana, where he served as first assistant for the 2008 season.
The Cincinnati native has spent more than 15 years coaching and directing at the club level. He most recently coached for Mintonette Sports in Columbus, Ohio, where he guided his U-16 team to an open level USAV National Championship.
Riesenberg earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and advertising from the College of Mount Saint Joseph in 2003.
