Swim Teams Third After Day One Of Northwestern Invite

Chicago, Ill. - One day into the Northwestern Invitational the SIU men's and women's swimming and diving teams sit in third place behind Northwestern and Purdue followed by Louisville.
The SIU men have 193 points and are with striking distance of #20 Northwestern (251). #24 Purdue leads with 318 points and Louisville sits fourth with 63.
The Salukis were led by swimmers Chrysanthos Papachrysanthou, (second in the 50 free - 21.17), Brent Menghini (third in the 500 free - 4:33.58) and Corne Prozesky (sixth in the 200 IM - 1:54.52).
In the one-meter dive, Devin Aikins finished second (268.30), Joel Hanger was fourth (264.10) and Jake Sinclair was fifth (258.85).
The SIU women trail #31 Purdue (365 points) and #21 Northwestern (316) with 113 points followed by Louisville with 83.
The Salukis were led by the performances of Leane Pienaar (eighth in 500 free - 5:04.72) and Brooke Radostits (ninth in 50 free - 24.29).
The Northwestern Invite will continue all day Saturday at Northwestern University.
