Men's Swimming And Diving Defeats Evansville, 124-95

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki men's swimming and diving team defeated conference rival University of Evansville 129-92 in a conference dual meet Saturday Nov 3.
Junior Jake Sinclair was the top performer as his final score from his 3-meter dive (311.400) automatically qualified him for the NCAA Zone D Swimming and Diving Championships, the NCAA automatic score for six dives in a dual meet for the 3-meter dive is 310. Sinclair also won the 1-meter dive with a score of 267.375.
Sophomore Derek Helvey also won two events, the 500 (4:39.77) and the 1,000 (9:39.03) freestyles. Freshman Brent Menghini won the 200 freestyle (1:41.17) and placed second in the 200 backstroke. Senior Chrysanthos Papachrysanthou won the 50 freestyle (21.12) and also placed second in the 100 freestyle. George Oxinos was the top finisher in the 200 individual medley (1:55.75) and Adam Gangl placed first in the 200 butterfly (1:55.78).
Senior Corne Prozesky finished second in the 200 individual medley and freshman Ivan Sanchez placed second in his event the 1,000 freestyle.
The 400 medley relay team of Prozesky, Danilo Luna, Jeremiah Cortez and Matt Glowacki finished first and the 400 freestyle relay team (Papachrysanthou, Glowacki, Cortez and Edoardo Daelli) finished second.
The team will travel to Champaign, Ill. to compete in the Illinois Invite on Friday November 9.
