Salukis Compete In The MVC Shootout

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale men's and women's swimming and diving team will return to Springfield, Mo., Saturday to compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Shootout. Each of the Valley schools will only send eleven swimmers and no divers to this event.
The men's team beat Drury College, the defending NCAA Division I-AA national champions, and the women's team was edged by Drury for the second year in a row by only two points last weekend in the same town but in a different pool.
This year's event will be a shoot-out meet different from last year's relay only affair. Each team will enter two swimmers in each of the eleven events, the No. 1 swimmers in one heat and the No. 2's in another heat and the two times are combined to see who wins.
The women's team event performers are: 400 medley relay-Brooke Radostits, Amy Legner, Beth Ann Erickson, Jenna Meckler, 1000 freestye-Leane Pienaar, 200 freestyle-Nicoleta Michalidou, Amber Mullins, 50 freestyle-Jenna Meckler, Caty Kinnaman, 200 individual medley-Dana Morrell, Courtney Corder, 100 butterfly-Erickson, Corder, 100 freestyle-Meckler, Michalidou, 100 backstroke-Radostits, Morrell, 500 freestyle-Mullins, Pienaar, 100 breaststroke-Legner, Melanie Williams, 400 freestyle relay-Kinnaman, Michalidou, Radostits, Meckler.
The men's team event performers are: 400 medlely relay-Matt Munz, Corne Prozesky, Luke Wotruba, David Parkins, 1000 freestyle-Derek Helvey, Joe Neukirch, 200 freestyle-B.J. Bourne, Prozesky, 50 freestyle-Chris Papachrysanthou, Parkins, 200 individual medley-Munz, Joe Tidwell, 100 butterfly-Wotruba, Jeremiah Cortez, 100 freestyle-Papachrysanthou, Parkins, 100 backstroke-Munz, Danila Luna, 500 freestyle-Helvey, Bourne, 100 breaststroke-Prozesky, Tidwell, 400 freestyle relay-Papachrysanthou, Helvey, Bourne, and either Cortez or Tidwell.
