CARBONDALE, Ill. -- - For the fifth consecutive year, the Southern Illinois women's tennis team was honored with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-Academic Team Award. Team members Keri Crandall and Erika Ochoa also earned individual recognition by the ITA.
"Athletics and academics go hand-in-hand in our program," head coach Judy Auld said. "We take great pride in being the top academic team in our conference."
The ITA grants the award to teams with a combined GPA of 3.2 or better. The SIUC women's tennis team had a team GPA of 3.6 last year and was the only Missouri Valley Conference team to win the award.
Juniors and seniors are eligible for individual awards. Crandall, a senior majoring in radiology science, had a 3.75 GPA. Ochoa, a junior majoring in aviation, posted a 3.83 GPA.
