Women's Tennis Drops Season Opener to Missouri

Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri (1-0) won all six singles matches and all three doubles matches en route to a sweep over Southern Illinois (0-1) in both teams' 2002 season opener today Green Tennis Center.
In singles play, sophomore Urska Juric, freshman Katka Sevcikova, freshman Mary Barry, junior Kristina Olshanskaya, and freshman Luci Ruskova all won their matches. Senior Caitlin Thompson also recorded a win by default.
The doubles team of Juric and Sevcikova won the No. 1 doubles match over Alejandra Blanco and Tana Trapani, 8-2 and Barry and Thompson took the No. 2 doubles match from Erika Ochoa and Kari Stark, 8-4.
Today's matches were the first to be held at the new Green Tennis Center at Mizzou.
The Salukis will return to action on Friday, Feb. 15 against Eastern Michigan in Louisville, Ky. Match time is set for 5 p.m.
