Monroe, La. - Junior Brigitta Olson won the 200 fly and 400 IM to lead the Southern Illinois University women's swimming and diving team to a 129-106 win over Louisiana-Monroe in a dual meet Saturday at the Lake C. Oxford Natatorium in Monroe, Louisiana.
The SIU women also picked up wins by sophomores Melinda Page (200 free) and Bronwyn Logan (100 free) in addition to victories by freshmen Briley Bergen (1000 free), Megan Simms (50 free) and Elizabeth McGowan (500 free). Bergen (10:24.89) and McGowan (5:06.35) each set career-highs with their times on Saturday.
In the 400 medley relay, the team of Suzanne Souders, Page, Olson and Natalie Kenny finished first and diver Andrea Johnson finished second on the 1 and 3-Meter boards. Amber Mullins (1000 free) and Ashley MacCurdy (400 IM) each added second place finishes for SIU.
The SIU women's swimming and diving teams will be back in the pool next weekend for a dual meet against Drury University in Springfield, Mo. at 2 p.m.
