CARBONDALE, Ill. - Saluki men's swimming and diving head coach Rick Walker announced the signing of Jason Sigler from Carterville, Ill., to a national letter of intent.
Sigler will add depth to the Saluki distance and butterfly events. He hails from Carterville High School, where he was a four-time sectional qualifier and two-time state qualifier. He was also a four-time USA Swimming zone qualifier as a member of the Saluki Swim Club.
"We're really looking forward to Jason coming in because I think he is an untap talent. He's progress through the Saluki Swim Club and there has been few swimmers who have come through the ranks locally who have reached the caliber that we can use on our team, so I'm very excited on how far he has come and where I think he is going to end up," commented Walker.
The son of Todd and Patty Sigler, Jason plans on majoring in business. He also is a member of the Lifesavers as well as an Alpha Team Leader at Carterville High School.
"He is going to be a great addition academically as well as what he will bring to the pool and the community. I'm really excited about having him on the team and can't wait till the season starts," said Walker.
