Women's Tennis Downed by Cal State Northridge

Northridge, Calif. - Short-handed Southern Illinois (0-9) won two of four singles matches, but that wasn't enough as Cal State Northridge went on to post a 5-2 win over the Salukis earlier today at the Northridge Tennis Complex.
Tereza Simonyan and freshman Veronika Wagner were the dual winners on the day for Northridge head coach Gary Victor. Simonyan continued her dominant play in singles competition as she extended her winning streak to nine matches after a victory at the No. 1 singles spot over Erika Ochoa (6-3, 6-3).
To begin the match, Simonyan also teamed up with senior Kendra Segura for the first time this season to earn the win over the tandem of Ochoa and Alejandra Blanco, 8-4.
Wagner earned her seventh singles win of the season as she defeated SIU's Sarah Krismanits at the No. 3 position. Wagner and doubles partner Rani Setiawatl continued to be a tough team to beat at the No. 2 doubles spot as they defeated Krismanits and Kari Stark, 8-1.
