Salukis Win Third Match At Southwest Texas

San Marcos, Texas -- The Saluki volleyball team out-lasted host school Southwest Texas in a four game match Saturday morning to expand their record to 3-0 in the CenturyTel/Roger Beasley Honda Premier and overall.
After defeating the Bobcats 30-24 in the first game, the Salukis fell to SWT in the second game, 30-16.
The third game in the match was a marathon which the score was tied several times throughout with SIU winning 33-31.
"We are a team that doesn't let things rattle us," said coach Sonya Locke.
The Salukis were victorious in the fourth game, 30-22.
Lindsay Schultz (senior, MB, Valparaiso, Ind.) was productive at the net for the Salukis with 20 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Kristie Kemner (senior, OH, Quincy, Ill.) added 19 kills and 10 digs. Qiana Nelson (senior, OH, Kankakee, Ill.) led the team in digs with 12. Britten Follett (senior, S, Marengo, Ill.) tallied eight kills for .500 percent hitting efficiency.
The Bobcats aced 11 serves in the four games.
"Even though we were struggling at times with serve receive, we didn't get down," said Locke. "We're an upperclass team, and our senior leadership led us through this match."
SIU will play North Texas (1-2) at 5 p.m.
