Carbondale, Ill. - Coming off nearly a two-week break, the Southern Illinois University women's golf team returns to action this weekend when it competes at the Northern Iowa Panther Fall Classic. The two-day event will take place Sunday-Monday, Sept. 22-23 at Beaver Hills Country Club.
This year's tournament will consist of just four teams, three of which are members of the Missouri Valley Conference. SIU, Creighton, Northern Iowa and UMKC make up the small field.
SIU opened its season on Sept. 9-10 at the Illinois State Redbird Classic where it finished second out of eight teams. Redshirt freshman Tiffany Fritsche currently leads the Dawgs with a 75.0 stroke average. Fritsche tied for third in her collegiate debut at the Redbird Classic shooting rounds of 75, 76 and 74.
