Women's Swimming And Diving Host First Meet This Weekend

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The women's swimming and diving team will begin the season at home this weekend as they face-off against Lincoln (Ill.) College on Saturday in a dual meet.
The Salukis hope for a good, solid swim meet that will allow the many newcomers (12 freshman and one junior college transfer) to ease into the Division I swimming experience. Women's head coach Jeff Goelz will look to his upperclassmen this weekend for leadership.
"Across the board we have somebody in every stroke that ought to be a leader and pushing other people, but we also have five seniors as well as some other upperclassmen," said Goelz. "Sitting with the captains and upperclassmen and explaining to them that if they want to win, they have to be good leaders."
The dual meet, which begins at 12:00 p.m., will be held at the SIU Student Rec. Center Pool. Admission is free. Results can be found at www.SIUSalukis.com.
