Women's Tennis Falls To #65 Troy State

Memphis, Tenn. - The women's tennis team, plagued with injuries, sturggled against its third nationally ranked opponent of the season, losing to #65 Troy State on Friday. The Trojans pulled out the victory, 6-1, as SIU was forced to default on one singles and one doubles match.
The lone Saluki win of the day came at the No. 5 singles spot when freshman Zoya Honarmand defeated Emma Heffernan, 6-3, 6-0. Junior Jessica Knitter lost a tight one against Laura Alarcon at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 7-5.
SIU returns to action tomorrow in a double header. The Salukis will face Memphis (9am) in the morning, and take on St. Louis in a matinee meeting 2:30pm. Results can be found on the team's official website at www.siusalukis.com.
