Salukis Sweep MVC Swimming Honors This Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Michaela Sceli and Andrea Johnson were named this week's Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week, as announced by the league office today.
Sceli, a freshman from LaSalle, Ontario finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke against Indiana and Ohio State on Jan. 10, clocking in at a time of 2:23.84. She was also second leg of the 400-yard medley relay team that posted the fifth best time of the season for the Salukis with a time of 4:04.73.
Johnson, a senior diver from Elburn, Ill., placed fourth in the 1-meter dive against Indiana and Ohio State. She also placed seventh on the 3-meter dive in the same meet.
Johnson posted a score of 232.50 in the 1-meter dive and a mark of 210.60 in the 3-meter dive.
The honor is the first of the season for both athletes and the first of Sceli's career. SIU has received the swimmer of the week honor five times season, while Johnson's is the first diver of the week for the Salukis this season.
