Evanston, Ill. - The Southern Illinois men's and women's swimming and diving teams both finished fourth at the five-team Northwestern Invitational on Sunday.
The Saluki women scored 613.50 points, trailing champion Northwestern (1113), Missouri (996.50) and Pittsburgh (903.50). Kenyon College (340.50) also finished fifth in the women's field.
Antonio Santoro won the 200 fly (1:49.30), and Jason Sigler placed third in the 1650 free (15:38.71), followed by Igor Sanchez (15:46.26) to lead the Saluki finishers on Sunday.
Elizabeth McGowan placed fourth in the 1650 freestyle (17:25.03), followed by Morgan Sonstegard (17:26.00) to lead the Saluki women on Sunday.
The SIU men will swim next against Purdue, Indiana and Iowa on December 4. The women will be back in the pool with the men to face Tampa, Texas Christian and Indian River Community College on January 8 in Fort Pierce, Fla.
