Santoro Named MVC Male Swimmer of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Saluki swimmer Antonio Santoro was named Missouri Valley Conference male Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Santoro, a freshman from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, won his first two individual collegiate events against MVC foe Evansville. He finished first in the 200-freestyle in a time of 1:42.98 and the 100-freestyle in 48.31.

Santoro also swam the second leg of the 200-free relay, which placed first, as his team finished in 1:26.78.

All three performances are team bests for SIU this season. This award marks Santoro's first honor as a Saluki.
