Women's Swimming Ranked Ninth In Mid-Major Poll

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University men's and women's swimming and diving teams are nationally ranked in the top-25 CollegeSwimming.com poll released Thursday. The Saluki men are ranked third and the women, ninth in the second Division I-Mid-Major poll of the season.
The men jumped 14 spots from 17th, while the women advanced 11 spots, up from 20th from the first poll of the season.
Eastern Michigan leads the men's poll with 241.46 points, followed by Princeton with 239.25 and Southern Illinois with 239.21 points.
The Southern men have individual swimmers ranked in the top-100 nationally in 10 of 13 events and two swimmers provisionally qualified in two events. Senior Marcelo Possato is provisionally qualified in the 200 backstroke, while freshman Antonio Santoro is provisionally qualified in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.
On the women's side, Miami University leads the poll with 236.19 followed by Richmond (235.57) and University of California-Irvine (235.14). SIU sits ninth with 229.56 points.
The Saluki women's Nora Bunford is ranked in the top-100 in two events (100 & 200 Breast).
