Women's Golf Wins Texas-Pan American Intercollegiate

MISSION, Texas - Southern Illinois University's women's golf team shot a three-round score of 910 en route to winning the Texas-Pan American Intercollegiate which ended earlier today.
SIU, who shot an all-time low 293 to open the tournament, posted its first team title since winning the Saluki Invitational on March 24-25, 2002.
Individually, the Dawgs were led by Stefanie Pate (74-73-78--225) who finished fifth.Megan Tarrolly (71-75-81--227) and teammate Kelly Gerlach (74-75-78--227) followed, as each tied for seventh.
Also finishing among the top-20 individuals were Samantha Sutzer (74-74-83--231) and Amy Rankin (76-76-85--237). Sutzer placed 11th, while Rankin tied for 17th.
SIU topped the eight-team field with a 293-297-320--910, while Texas State (310-300-311--921), McNeese State (303-312-308--923), Texas-Pan American (307-305-314--927) and Lamar University (311-308-325--944) rounded out the top-five.
SIU returns to action at the Peggy Kirk Bell on March 8-9. The tournament is held in Orlando, Fla.
