Salukis Sweep MVC Golfer of the Week Honors

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois' Stefanie Pate and Grant Goltz are this week's Missouri Valley Conference golfers of the week. Pate finished fifth at the Texas-Pan American Intercollegiate, while Goltz tied for eighth at the Pizza Hut/Bell South.
Pate, a junior from Carbondale, shot a 74-73-78--225 to lead SIU, who posted its first team title since Mar. 24-25, 2002, at the Texas-Pan American Bronco Classic earlier this week. Included in Pate's mark was a career-low of 73 done in the second round of the tournament. Pate's fifth-place finish is the best of her Saluki career.
Due to inclement weather, the SIU men's golf team only played one round at the Pizza Hut/Bell South, where it finished tied for fourth. SIU, who shot a 305, shared the fourth-place spot with two others, including SE Missouri State and Lewis University.
Goltz shot a 39-35--74 to lead all Saluki individuals.
This week's honor marked the second time Goltz has been named MVC Men's Golfer of the Week.
Meanwhile, for Pate, the weekly award marked her first.
