CARBONDALE, Ill. - The women's swimming and diving team will finish out the regular season Saturday as it hosts a dual meet against conference rival Evansville. SIU hopes to gain a victory going into the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Championships in two weeks.
"It's the last meet of the year, but it's a conference meet," head coach Jeff Goelz said. "It's a good culminating meet to the end of the season, and one we'd like to win."
SIU will look to snap a four-meet losing streak against the Purple Aces, having fallen to conference powerhouse Southwest Missouri State two weeks ago.
"We want to put our best foot forward and have some good performances, but at the same time you want to make sure your team is really ready for that final push toward the conference meet," Goelz said. "With this meet, the athletes can kind of measure how they are doing against other conference competitors."
SIU will square off against Evansville at the Student Rec. Center at 12 p.m. Admission to the meet is free. Results of this weekend's meet against Evansville can be found at www.SIUSalukis.com.
