CARBONDALE, Ill. - New women's tennis coach Brett Bridel will begin his SIU career this weekend as the Salukis will play in The Aces Fall Classic on Sept. 24 and 25 at the Carson City Courts in Evansville, Ind.
Along with a new coach SIU will also display four new players on this year's roster. The Salukis will have a young line up as they showcase three juniors, Maria Blanco, Zoya Honarmand and Zuzana Palovic and four freshmen Laura Bredniak, Joana Hornestam, Amanda Taillerfer, and Adriana Alvarez.
While the team is young they do have plenty of experience in their three juniors. Maria Blanco played at the Salukis #2 singles spot last year as she posted a 6-7 record in Missouri Valley Conference play, while Palovic went undefeated with a 6-0 record in MVC play and posted a 26-21 overall record. Honarmand also posted solid numbers with a 5-4 MVC record and went 25-25 on the year.
All results for the Aces Fall Classic can be found at www.SIUSalukis or at www.gopurpleaces.com. Results will be posted at the conclusion of play on each day.
