TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Johannah Yutzy recorded a career and team season-high 22 kills and six blocks to lead Southern Illinois over Indiana State 3-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play Friday night in ISU Arena.
The Salukis won game one, 30-27, while the Sycamores took game two 31-29. SIU game back to win games two and three and the match, 32-30, 30-19.
SIU recorded a season-high 14 total team blocks, including six solo blocks and 16 block assists.
Marissa Washington led the Salukis with eight blocks, tying a career-high four solo. Haley Hann and Katy DeWulf added three block assists each. Washington and DeWulf pitched in eight kills each, while Hann along with Kristie Berwanger each posted nine.
Kristy Elswick recorded a match-high 19 digs, while Holly Marita added 51 assists for the Salukis.
SIU returns to action Saturday night in Normal, Ill. when they take on the Redbirds of Illinois State at 7 p.m.
