CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Northern Iowa (11-9, 5-3 MVC) volleyball team extended their dominance over Southern Illinois (11-9, 3-5 MVC), sweeping SIU in Missouri Valley Conference play Friday night in the McLeod Center, 30-15, 30-22, 30-22. The match raised the Panther's win streak to 30-straight matches over the Salukis, dating back to 1993.
The Panthers held the Salukis to a .042 hitting percentage on the night, out-digging the Salukis, 58 to 49.
Three UNI hitters recorded double-digit kills, while all Saluki hitters stayed in single digit kills, led by Kelsie Laughlin with seven kills, six digs and two service aces. Chandra Roberson also pitched in six kills.
The bright spot on the night came from the play of Jasmine Conner. The freshman hit .455 in the match with five kills and zero errors, adding a match-high five block assists.
Saluki setter Brooklyn Robbins returned to the Saluki lineup after two games off with injury to record 22 assists and nine digs.
UNI was led by Ashten Stelken with 16 kills, hitting .452 on the night with just two errors in 31 attempts. Laura Rowen and Danielle Brazda pitched in 10 kills each. Rowen also added 14 digs, Brazda, one solo and three block assists.
The Salukis return to action Saturday at Bradley, start time at 7 p.m.
