CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Creighton volleyball team hit .315, recording just 16 attack errors in a three-game sweep (30-19, 30-21, 30-24) of injury-plagued Southern Illinois Saturday night in Missouri Valley Conference play in Davies Gym.
The Bluejays (13-6, 7-0 MVC) remained perfect in league play, while the loss dropped the Salukis (11-7, 3-4 MVC) below .500 in The Valley.
CU put three players in double-digit kills and three in double-digit digs, out-playing SIU in nearly every category.
SIU, without starting setter Brooklyn Robbins and right side hitter Kristie Berwanger, was led by Marina Medic with nine kills, one solo and two block assists and Chandra Roberson with eight kills.
Jennifer Berwanger recorded a match-high 16 digs and freshman Jasmine Conner recorded one solo and three block assists.
Creighton was led by Kelly Goc who hit .548 in the match with 19 kills and just two errors. Lauren Bloemke and Allie Oelke pitched in 16 and 10 kills respectively. Oelke added 15 digs and Bloemke five block assists.
The Salukis take to the road for two weeks traveling to Southeast Missouri State for a non-conference match up Tuesday, Oct, 9, before heading to Northern Iowa (Oct. 12) and Bradley (Oct. 13) Friday and Saturday. Thursday, Oct. 18, SIU will face Evansville on the Purple Aces home court.
