CARBONDALE, Ill - Southern Illinois University women's tennis head coach Audra Nothwehr announced Wednesday the signing of Emily Whitney for next season.
Whitney is currently a senior at Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas, where she plays No. 1 singles. Whitney is ranked No. 13 in under-18 Girls Singles in the Missouri Valley Section of the United States Tennis Association. She ranked No. 7 in singles in the 6A Kansas High School State Tournament.
"Emily has some strong results, especially playing in the USTA," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "She has had a lot of competition around her and has a game that will blossom even further with college traning. She is a great addition to the Saluki tennis team. We are fortunate to have her."
The Salukis will begin their spring season play on Feb. 2 in Dayton, Ohio.
