Women's Golf tied for 5th after day two of Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz.-The Southern Illinois women's golf team vaulted from 11th place into a four-way tie for fifth after shooting a round-two 297 at the Rio Verde Invitational today.
"We had a great day," said head coach Diane Daugherty. "I am very, very, very pleased. We are tied with Missouri State and way ahead of Bradley and Illinois State and a bunch of Big Ten schools. We're right in there, one shot out of fourth."
Josie Lowder led the Salukis for the second straight day with her round-two 74. She currently sits in 13th place on the leaderboard. Braidy Hood is tied for 17th place following her 75 in round two.
Lauren May and Christine Zoerlein finished tied for 31st after shooting 75 and 73, respectively, in the second round. Kelly Gerlach and Samantha Sutzer both shot 76 today. Gerlach is tied for 44th and Sutzer is tied for 62nd.
The Salukis will look to continue their stellar play tomorrow in the third and final round of the tournament. Play begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
