DAWGS ARE IN
With its win against Northern Iowa on May 13, SIU clinched a spot in the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship which will be played May 23-26 at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo. This year's six-team field included Creighton, Wichita State, Bradley, Evansville, SIU and host Missouri State. The Salukis make their sixth consecutive trip to the MVC Tournament, joining the Shockers and Bluejays as the only teams in the league to make the tourney each of the last six years.
SALUKIS PLAYING FOR SEED
If SIU sweeps Indiana State and Northern Iowa sweeps Bradley, the Salukis could finish as high as third in the standings. Evansville (13-11) currently sits in fourth-place after wrapping up its conference season last weekend.
ON THE ROAD
SIU has the second fewest road wins in the MVC this year. At 7-11, the Salukis are still searching for their first series win away from home. SIU has been on the losing end of four road series, including three-straight in league play.
