CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Southern Illinois (8-3) volleyball team was held to -.030 hitting percentage in a three game sweep by Illinois (7-2) 30-15, 30-14, 30-14, Wednesday night in Huff Hall.
The Illini hit .452, putting three hitters in double-digit kills, led by Laura Debruler with 19 kills and six digs. Stephanie Alde and Vicki Brown chipped in 13 and 12 kills respectively.
Brooklyn Robbins led SIU with 16 assists and four kills, while Chandra Roberson added a team-high five kills. Kristy Elswick pitched in 10 digs.
The Illini outmatched the Salukis in nearly every category, out-blocking SIU 12.0 team blocks to 2.0. UI recorded 56 team kills with just nine errors to SIU's 21 kills.
The Salukis return to action when they open Missouri Valley Conference play against Illinois State Friday night in Davies Gym at 7 p.m. Saturday, SIU will take on Indiana State at 7 p.m.
