Volleyball falls to Missouri State in four

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Southern Illinois (10-5, 2-2 MVC) volleyball team dropped their match against the MVC leading Missouri State Bears (15-2, 5-0 MVC) in four games (30-28, 30-24, 35-37, 30-21) on Friday night.
The Bears are now on a 10-match winning streak and are in first place in the league. Senior outside hitter Jamie Adams led MSU with a match-high of 16 kills.
Including Adams, the Bears had three players record double-digit kills and three players with double-digit marks in the digs category.
SIU put up impressive numbers as well, with four players posting double-digit kills and five putting up double-digit dig marks. Marina Medic and Chandra Roberson led the Salukis with 13 kills each. Kristie Berwanger tallied 17 digs and 12 kills for the Salukis in the effort.
Roberson was SIU's leading hitter, posting a .360 on the night. Brooklyn Robbins contributed 51 assists and Kelsie Laughlin recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Saluki libero Kristy Elswick posted 15 digs and is now just 26 digs shy of the career mark at SIU.
The Salukis return to action Saturday at 7 p.m. at Wichita State.
