Volleyball falls to Shockers in three

WICHITA, Kan. - The Southern Illinois (10-6, 2-3 MVC) volleyball team fell to Wichita State (13-4, 5-1 MVC) in three games (30-18, 30-22, 30-11) on Saturday night.
The Shockers were led by Emily Stockman with 10 kills and 16 digs in the match. Lindsey Eckenrode posted a match-high 12 kills for WSU while Kelly Broussard led the Shockers in digs with a match-high 24.
SIU struggled with consistency as no one stepped up as a leader, with Kristie Berwanger and Kelsie Laughlin leading the Salukis with six kills each. Jennifer Berwanger led the Salukis in digs with 10 and Elswick followed with eight.
Brooklyn Robbins was the Salukis' assists leader, posting 23 of SIU's 25 assists.
The Salukis will be back in action when they host Drake on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at Davies Gym.
