Women's Tennis defeats Bradley, 4-3

PEORIA, Ill. - The Salukis defeated Bradley today, 4-3, improving their record to 11-10 overall, 4-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Braves (5-14, 1-7) won two of three doubles matches against the Salukis (11-10, 4-3), capturing the doubles point for a 1-0 lead. Sabine Tsala Mvilongo and Jessica Flannery teamed up at the top seed, defeating Jessica Buterbaugh and Kelly Donohue, 6-3, 6-4. Martina Vianna Ce and Michela Cruise were unable to hold off Emily Regenold and Nicole Miller at No. 2 doubles, falling 9-7. Amanda Taillefer and Andrea Courtney played a tough match at No. 3 doubles, but fell 9-7 to Erin Krubeck and Kim Braun.
In singles action, the No. 3 and No. 6 spots were not finished due to time constraint. Tsala grabbed the win at No. 1 singles against Regenold, while Ce defeated Donohue at No. 2 singles. Flannery won at No. 4 singles against Buterbaugh, 6-4, 6-3. Taillefer grabbed the victory over Krubeck at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-0. Cruise and Courtney did not finish their matches, with the default point going to Bradley for a 4-3 final.
"We were very disappointed that we didn't get the doubles point," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "But we stepped up in singles, and got the points. Tomorrow we'll work on our doubles game and hopefully get the win."
The Salukis will take on Illinois State tomorrow at 10 a.m., in their last regular season match.
